Learning outcomes

After completing the course, the student will have

  • Basic business vocabulary in English, with an emphasis on sales
  • Enhanced skills to read more demanding business texts
  • Improved ability to express him-/herself in spoken English for business contexts
  • Improved ability to contact the customer in spoken English

Course contents

Central themes covered in the course are as follows:

  • Learning business vocabulary in selected business areas
  • Reading and generating discussion questions on the basis of business texts
  • Discussing business topics in groups
  • Practicing customer contacts in spoken English.

Students construct knowledge through personal study and collaborative learning, facilitated by the instructor in class. The English studies are integrated with the students’ business studies. Students read texts and discuss topics related to selected business areas of their choice. They learn to argue and summarize their points in the form of questions to be later used in group discussions.
